Putting away Foreign Wives – Class on Ezra 9 and 10
- Speaker: Jason McDermott
- Summary: Some of the exiles (Jews) had married foreign wives, in violation of the Mosaic Law. Ezra's prayer saves them from the wrath of God, as does their penance - to put away (divorce) the wives and children. We are not to divorce non-Christian spouses today (1 Corinthians 7:12-14), but some still find themselves in a marriage that is unlawful in the eyes of God. What to do then?
- Passages: Ezra 9-10; Deuteronomy 7:1-6; Matthew 5:31-32
- Class notes available on the website. The Book of Ezra - chapters 9-10
