Continuing our series in the book of Numbers. Moses sends 12 men to spy out Canaan (a recon mission, basically). The report? It's great, but the men are formidable. Two of them say that's not a problem with God on our side, but the other ten cast doubt and get the Israelites discouraged, with severe consequences.
The last of a series in Acts chapters 3-7. As the gospel of Jesus is spreading in Jerusalem, multitudes are continuing to believe and are being added to the church. But, tensions are continuing to rise among unbelievers within the community, especially among the leadership. In this lesson, we consider how Stephen’s trial, sermon and death demonstrate the incredibly unique fulfillment of God’s plan both in Jesus and in Stephen’s character.
As the church in Jerusalem was thriving, they are faced with a problem from within that could have divided the church. In this lesson, we see how the apostles solved this problem with Christ-like wisdom, and how we can gain wisdom by this example to solve problems among brethren as well.
Continuing our series in the book of Numbers. When Israel began to move away from Sinai, they immediately began to complain on their journey. We see in these chapters Israel complaining because of the adversity of being in the wilderness, the lack of variety with food and then we see Moses’ siblings complaining against him as well. In this lesson, we see how God responded to these complaints and what we can learn from the solutions He provided.
A look at Samuel's origins. His mother was a woman of remarkable faith and blessed by God after much adversity. Samuel would go on to be a prophet, priest, and one of the last judges of Israel.
Continuing the series in Acts chapters 3-7. In this section, we see the apostles arrested twice more by the Jewish Council. In this lesson, we consider how the apostles’ example of courage teaches us about the kind of certainty we can also have in Jesus, and what kind of impact Jesus will have on our lives when we see Him as the apostles did.
Continuing the series in Acts chapters 3-7. In this section, we see various qualities that God was cultivating in the community of those who had believed in Jesus. In this lesson, we see how God was causing both abundant grace and fear to thrive in the church. Then, we consider how the fear caused by God’s judgment aided the progress of the gospel, rather than hindering it - and how important that is in our work together as a local church.
Continuing the series in Acts chapters 3-7. In this section, Peter and John are arrested and questioned by the Council in Jerusalem. In this lesson, we consider how it was the gospel’s power that inspired the boldness that Peter and John demonstrated before the council, and how we can take practical steps to strive to follow their example.
Continuing our series in the book of Numbers. In chapters 5-9, God gives a final series of instructions to the people through Moses before leaving Sinai. In this lesson, we consider how these instructions emphasize the importance of each individual learning the value of holiness. We consider how the failure to value holiness on an individual level leads to greater failures in Israel on a national level. Then, we consider how these lessons can be applied for us as being individually a part of a larger body within Christ’s church.
This is the first lesson of a mini-series through Acts chapters 3-7. In these chapters, we see the beginning of the spread of the gospel in the city of Jerusalem and the power of the gospel being demonstrated in those who first believed. In chapter 3, Peter heals a lame man at the temple and preaches his second gospel sermon emphasizing God’s power to restore any who repent. In this lesson, we consider how the miracle and Peter’s message both illustrate the reality that God raised up Jesus for us as well, to give us hope that we can be saved & restored from sin as well.
